Some interesting pics...

Here are some interesting pictures that I've taken over the past week.

(a) a dog waiting for its owner in Starbucks (dogs are treated quite highly here)

(b) a gym called "McFit" (they think that you can add the prefix "Mc" to anything and it all of the sudden becomes American)

(c) here is an example of the picture I sent earlier (I feel sorry for the kid in the back...he looks like he will need a trip to the chiropractor after his bike ride)

(d) this is one way to move into the second floor

(e) the bikers here have their own separate traffic light (I don't really know what all the symbols mean yet)

I hope you enjoy these photos! Fall is setting in here...I will try to post more soon.

my boyfriend

My roommate Steph and I were riding on a Strassenbahn (like a street car), when, all of the sudden, she hits me and says, "There is your boyfriend at that stop." I looked out the window and my boyfriend was waiting to get on another street car. I pulled out my camera and had to snap a photo.

To school

Today was my second day at school.  Here is how the day went.  I left my house at 7:17 am.  Thankfully I beat the rush hour traffic that I got stuck in yesterday when I was traveling around 9:45 am.  Germans don't go to work so early!  I walked down the street and when I heard the subway rumbling below me, I began to sprint down two flights of stairs just in time to board the S1 going south.  I sat by myself, next to the window, facing forward (I get a little sick when I sit backwards on the subway).  I went past two stops and got off at Potdamerplatz at 7:28.  I took 2 elevators up and then walked one block to pick up my bus.  I waited 5 minutes for my bus and I thought to myself, is it really going to become colder than this because I wish I would have brought my mittens and hat today.

I boarded the bus at 7:32 am and rode it until I got off at Kaiser-Wilhelmplatz at 7:45.  A pretty fast trek today.  Thankfully the BVG (the public transportation system) was running, with no strikes.  Occasionally, they really like to take a day off and call it a "strike."  Just kidding, I don't know why they strike, but it is ridiculous to me.  Well, the day went on and I'll write more about school later, but I wanted to include one last picture of how you have to ride your bike here if you have two children!

First Blog...

Some friends requested that I start a blog page and I was quite hesitant.  After being here 1 month though, I realize that writing is one way to process being in a new culture.  I have been writing a lot, so I figure that I could share a few things for those that would like to read.  This blog won't have perfect grammar, nor too many serious things, since it is an open website.  It will more be along the lines of funny pictures, crazy stories and a way to share what I am experiencing here.
